Getting my wires crossed

I walked past this the other day and stopped to ask the engineer if I could take a quick pic.

He explained to me that it is a lot easier to use than it looks and colours work with numbers to connect. He was very enthusiastic about it and I couldn't help wanting to untangle the wires.

 It would make an amazing drawn print and I couldn't find anything similar when I searched for wire prints online.
